Originally established in the 1860s by Edward Prebble, the hotel's storied history began when Edward transformed his shop into a thriving pub after recognizing the demand for liquor. Although the original building was lost to fire, the hotel was rebuilt on its current site, continuing its legacy of hospitality.
For 50 years, The Prebbleton Hotel was proudly family-owned and operated by the Gilmore family, fostering a welcoming, community-centric atmosphere. Today, it thrives under the stewardship of the Inkster Company, a Christchurch-born-and-bred hospitality group dedicated to upholding its rich heritage.
